Tropical Springtails (Collembola) Culture
Springtails of the genus Collembola are fast becoming the most popular custodian animal used in humid bioactive setups. They can be kept easily in vivariums and terrariums housing amphibian species such as dart and milk frogs, Invert housing or lizard and snake setups where there is some humidity. They will readily feed on mould helping to maintain clean substrate. They are perfectly safe with reptile and invert eggs.
They also serve as an ideal nutritious live food for your pets. Amphibians such as frogs, insects such as small Mantis and even fish will consume them readily. They will float on the water surface making them suitable for fish food as well as terrestrial animals.
