New Zealand Fernwood panels, or Tree Fern panels, are made from a different species of Tree Fern to those from South America. The fibres are much softer and lighter, making the panels easier to work with and glue into enclosures, yet they are just as strong and durable.
Ideal for planting Epiphytic plants, such as Bromeliads and Ferns, they wick moisture up from the substrate and retain it brilliantly, making them perfect for use with the Bioactive Herps Magic Moss, to create luscious green backgrounds in high humidity enclosures, such as those for Dart Frogs.
New Zealand Xaxim Panels are also more ecologically friendly than their South American Counterparts, as the New Zealand Tree Ferns are felled to ensure the majority of their forests remain, with felled areas being left for many years to grow new Tree Ferns back. This is in comparison to South American Panels, which are a by product of the logging industry, which is destroying Primary Rainforest. Our Panels also come free of plastic waste, which has become a hot topic in our store, with efforts underway to remove as much plastic packaging as possible.
