Carex comans, more commonly known as the Sedge Grass, comes from New Zealand but can be found in Gardens all over in many varieties. It can be a deciduous or evergreen, rhizomatous or tufted perennials. Grasses are best kept in a well drained slightly moist substrate in full sun or partial shade. It provides a lovely tight leaf clump that small geckos, etc can hide among.
Carex Grasses are a great addition to dryer setups. They do require the occasional good watering to keep them looking their best, but where this is not possible, they will dry up whilst maintaining their shape, providing a dry scrubland look.
